Southwark Bridge

Southwark Bridge is a Grade II listed arch bridge which opened in June 1921, linking the
district of Southwark and the City across the River Thames.

L&K were contracted by the City of London to upgrade all of the 90 streetlights on
Southwark Bridge to LED.

Due to the Bridge’s listed status and the need to carefully spread the loading, we had to
liaise with the Port of London Authority, safety boat teams and traffic management so that
we could use a mobile elevating work platform (MEWP), to ensure the project was
completed safely.

Location: Tower Hill, London

Client: City of London Corporation
