The Green Quarter is a redevelopment by Berkeley of a former brownfield gas works site of around 88 acres in Southall. The award-winning development is set in carefully planted gardens and grassland parks, bordered by the Grand Western Canal and the Elizabeth Line. It was designed to create a thriving new community that complemented the existing neighbourhood.
L & K was tasked with the installation and supply of all outdoor lighting, which included bespoke columns, bollards, LED strips under benches and steps, gobo projectors and tree up-lighters. The equipment is being fed via two custom-made, inground Kent Stainless feeder pillars, weighing over 500kg each, which house the Mode lighting control gear and are the first of their kind in the UK.
During implementation, L&K received Berkeley’s Health & Safety Champion award in which we were specifically cited for “always getting on with our scope of works, coordinating very well with everyone on the project, leaving everything in a tidy manner and delivering our work to a high-quality standard.”
